Hot & Spicy is my favourite pizza. It was my late night/early morning pizza of choice whilst I was studying: hot pizza and Coke for dinner, cold pizza and flat Coke for breakfast. Just the smell of this pizza cooking in the toastie maker brings back memories.
Today, I have decided to deviate from the norm and use a jaffle maker instead of my standard toasted sandwich maker. I must admit the single pocket of the jaffle maker did make it feel like I was eating a slice of pizza.
What are your favourite pizza toppings?
Hot & Spicy
Makes: 2 toasties
Ingredients:
- 2 tsp. jalapeƱos, chopped
- 2 tsp. pepperoni, diced
- 2 tsp. onion, diced finely
- 1 tbsp. fresh tomato
- 1 tbsp. tomato paste
- 4 tbsp. mozzarella cheese
- 4 slices of bread
- butter (optional)
Method:
Arrange each of your ingredients on top of each slice of bread as if you were creating a real pizza. |
- Preheat the toastie maker and butter each of the four slices of bread (optional).
- Arrange your ingredients on top of two of the four slices of bread (butter side down), as if you were making a real pizza.
- Place one slice of bread, butter side up, on top of your completed pizza.
- Place the pizza into the sandwich toaster or jaffle maker.
- Gently close the lid and allow to toast for approximately 3 minutes, or until the bread has browned sufficiently.
I love pocket sandwiches and I love pizza! What a great way to have the best of both worlds! Great stuff!
