Another day, another lunchtime toastie. People often remark how they love the smell of a cooking toastie. It does not matter what is inside, there is something about the smell of toasted bread, which makes people drool.
When it comes to weekday lunchtime drool-ability, microwaved pizza, must be in the top 10. Today, I am going to take it one-step further.
Meet the ultimate tease... pizza toasties!

Veggie
Makes: 2 toasties
Ingredients:
- 2 tsp. fresh tomato, diced
- 2 tsp. red capsicum, diced
- 2 tsp. onion, diced finely
- 2 tsp. pineapple, diced
- ½ tsp. garlic, minced
- 2 pinches dried oregano
- 2 tbsp. mozzarella, grated
- 2 tbsp. tomato paste
- 4 slices of bread
- butter (optional)
Method:
Arrange each of your ingredients on top of each slice of bread as if you were creating a real pizza. |
- Preheat the toastie maker and butter each of the four slices of bread (optional).
- Arrange your ingredients on top of two of the four slices of bread (butter side down), as if you were making a real pizza.
- Place one slice of bread, butter side up, on top of your completed pizza.
- Place the pizza into the sandwich toaster or jaffle maker.
- Gently close the lid and allow to toast for approximately 3 minutes, or until the bread has browned sufficiently.
